I love …
… the carillon that plays from St. Peter Catholic Church (8116 Niles Center Rd.) in Skokie at noon and 6 p.m. each day. I stop what I’m doing just to listen for a few minutes.
— Bill Peterson, Skokie
… that three times this week we happened upon a free outdoor concert somewhere in Lincoln Square, definitely a North Side summer perk.
— Sara Byerly, Chicago
… the River Taxi. See the city from a new angle. Board on the east side of the river at Adams Street and take a charming, leisurely cruise down the Chicago River before being dropped off at Michigan Avenue, Navy Pier or the Museum Campus.
— Tom Conforti, Western Springs
… homemade ice cream.
— Kelly Carney, Chicago
I hate …
… self-appointed cheerleaders who stand at a sports event, flapping their arms to encourage fans to make more noise.
— Mara Edelberg, Chicago
… when places have “first annual” whatever. How do they know the first one will be so successful that there will be a “second annual”? I would prefer “inaugural.”
— Holly Alberts, Arlington Heights
… receiving a book from a friend who ate while reading it, and it shows on the pages.
— Violet Jurich, Chicago
… cars with a Cubs sticker in their window because they frequently go into a spin for no apparent reason. Just like their team.
— R.D. Webster, Villa Park
