A 4-year-old boy was struck by gunfire while getting out of a vehicle this morning with his mother in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, Chicago police said.

A bullet grazed the boy’s head, police said, and he was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he is listed in good condition.

The child was getting out of a car about 1 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Madison Street when his mother heard shots ring out, police said.

At least one other person was inside the vehicle, which had a window shot out, police said.
