Getting offensive: Northwestern’s efficient attack produced 264 passing yards and 221 yards on the ground. Nine players carried the ball and seven made receptions.
On the defensive: The Wildcats limited Towson to 2.2 yards per carry.
The number: 145. Receiving yards for senior wideout Andrew Brewer.
They’re still talking about: Quentin Williams’ juggling interception. The defensive end bobbled a Peter Athens pass before squeezing the ball.
Injury report: Running back Jeravin Matthews went down with an ankle injury and did not return.
Audible: Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald took Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy to task — though not by name — for refusing to have his players engage in a pregame handshake Saturday with Georgia. “To me that’s extremely disappointing for our profession,” Fitzgerald said. Gundy claimed he was worried about provoking an incident.
Looking ahead: Northwestern will host Eastern Michigan, which hired former Michigan defensive coordinator Ron English as its head coach after going 3-9 last season. The Eagles lost 27-14 to Army on Saturday.
