Man found shot in apartment

Chicago police were investigating the death of a 29-year-old man who was found shot in the head Sunday afternoon in his West DePaul apartment. Police were called to the home on the 2500 block of North Ashland Avenue at 2:13 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs officer Robert Perez.

5 rescued from lake

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued five people from a boat that struck a piling in Lake Michigan on Saturday and started taking on water, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman said. The boat was spotted near 71st Street, officials said. There were no injuries.

Mayor Daley said Saturday he’s not surprised by his all-time low approval rating in a new Tribune/WGN poll, saying he believes it is a result of public anger over the poor economy. Daley chuckled when a Tribune reporter asked about his reaction to the poll, which showed that 35 percent of Chicagoans approve of the job that he is doing and 47 percent rate him unfavorably.
