USC quarterback Matt Barkley was still unable to throw in practice Tuesday, increasing the possibility the freshman won’t start the No. 3 Trojans’ upcoming game at Washington.
Although the bone bruise in Barkley’s right shoulder felt much better, sophomore Aaron Corp worked with USC’s first-team offense for the second straight day.
Safety Taylor Mays also missed practice for the second straight day with a sprained right knee ligament, but the senior All-American plans to suit up Saturday before deciding whether to play.
*Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops isn’t giving updates on quarterback Sam Bradford, hoping to prevent speculation on the Heisman Trophy winner’s return from a sprained shoulder. Asked whether Bradford would be able to return this week or if he had resumed throwing, Stoops said he’s “not even going to go there.”
*UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel suspended starting cornerback Courtney Viney, running back Milton Knox and receivers Morrell Presley and Randall Carroll for violating team rules, sidelining them for Saturday’s game. … No. 20 Miami will be without defensive backs DeMarcus Van Dyke (concussion) and JoJo Nicholas (undisclosed illness) when it plays No. 14 Georgia Tech on Thursday.
