Blue Jays 9, Orioles 2: Lyle Overbay and John McDonald homered, and David Purcey won for the first time since September 2008. The Jays have won 11 of 13 home games against the Orioles and 25 of 35 dating to 2006.
Twins 7, White Sox 0: Orlando Cabrera had two hits, drove in two and scored three runs. Nick Blackburn pitched seven shutout innings, Denard Span left the game in the sixth inning after being beaned by White Sox reliever Randy Williams.
Royals 12, Red Sox 9: Royals rallied from an 8-2 deficit with three runs in the fifth and six in the sixth. Mike Jacobs drove in three; Billy Butler, Alberto Callaspo and Alex Gordon each drove in a pair. Jason Bay homered and drove in three for the Red Sox.
Angels 5, Yankees 2: Joe Saunders allowed two runs in 8 1/3 innings and Brian Fuentes picked up his 44th save. Kendry Morales hit his 31st home run in the seventh inning. Alex Rodriguez and Hideki Matsui homered for the Yankees
Rangers at Athletics: Kevin Millwood makes his first start since Sept. 12, when he lasted just 3 2/3 innings and allowed five runs and eight hits in a loss to the Mariners. Millwood is 5-3 with a 3.66 ERA in 15 career starts against the A’s.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Braves 11, Mets 3: Chipper Jones homered and drove in four runs. Garret Anderson and Matt Diaz also connected for the Braves, who have won nine of 11. Martin Prado had three hits, Nate McLouth scored three times and Derek Lowe improved to 15-9.
Cubs 10, Brewers 2: Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez each homered in the second inning off Braden Looper as the Cubs led 7-1 after two. Lee drove in four runs and Tom Gorzelanny pitched five innings for his sixth win.
Cardinals 7, Astros 3: Mark DeRosa hit a pair of home runs and drove in four. Albert Pujols hit two doubles and Kyle Lohse pitched six innings and allowed three runs for his first win on the road this season. Wandy Rodriguez gave up six runs in five innings.
Padres 11, Pirates 6: The Padres scored five in the top of the 11th. Chase Headley had five hits, including two home runs, and three RBIs and Oscar Salazar drove in three. Adrian Gonzalez also homered, his 39th of the year. The Padres used nine pitchers in the game. Sean Gallagher got the win.
Giants at Diamondbacks: Barry Zito has received a total of 22 runs in his 11 career starts against the Diamondbacks, one reason for his 3-6 mark against Arizona.
