THIS WEEK’S CHATTERHEADS
Zach Aries, Walter Payton
Lynda Lopez, Prosser
Lee Pikelny, Lincoln
Park Cory Marchi, Homewood-Flossmoor
MODERATOR: What NFL player has surprised you, and why?
ZACH: Brian Urlacher. For all the smack about him finally being back to 100 percent, he goes down with a season-ending wrist injury.
LYNDA: Brett Favre. It is amazing how he retires one day and then declares his return a few days later. Hmm, odd career moves.
LEE: Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre. He’s given hope to a generation of senior citizens with dreams of playing in the NFL.
CORY: Robbie Gould. He really surprised me in last Sunday’s game.
MODERATOR: Give one good reason why anyone should still be
watching the Cubs or White Sox.
ZACH: Waiting to see who has the more entertaining and outrageous outburst … Ozzie or Lou.
LYNDA: Watching the Cubs lose makes you realize that there are some things worse than your AP homework.
LEE: Milton Bradley will still be getting interviewed. What else you got?
CORY: Because the Cubs are the best team in baseball! Always be true to the red and blue.
MODERATOR: If you could throw a pep rally for your school,
what would be the theme?
ZACH: If it was up to our administrators, it would be the math team. Personally, I’d go with football. We are named after Walter Payton, after all.
LYNDA: Boogie Fever: Grab an afro wig and dance the night away like it’s 1975!
LEE: Lincoln Park Lions Day! Lions would be released across the school, causing all students to make some noise. … Screaming for their lives is noise, right?
CORY: Like it is every year … SENIORS!!
MODERATOR: If your favorite team loses, what do you do to show
how hard you’re taking the loss?
ZACH: Absolutely nothing. … I’m pretty used to it by now.
LYNDA: I mope and eat rainbow sherbet ice cream at Baskin Robbins. At least I get ice cream out of my sadness.
LEE: As a diehard Sox fan, I watch the Cubs and that usually cheers me up.
CORY: I really just come up with some explanation for the loss. It seems to cushion the blow.
