Donald Lawrence (musical director, producer, singer, songwriter) hosts eight of Chicago’s finest gospel choirs in the “How Sweet the Sound” tour, a search for the “best church choir in America.” This regional competition offers the winning choir cash and prizes and a spot in the national competition. The judges are quite stellar: gospel singer Marvin Sapp, Grammy Award-winning Dorinda Clark-Cole (of The Clark Sisters) and WGRB radio personality Pastor John Hannah (Sapp and Clark-Cole will also perform). And a divine ticket price means the religious and nonreligious from all walks can come and enjoy the music. 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Center, 1901 W. Madison St. $5-$7; 800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.
