White Sox 8, Tigers 0: Scott Podsednik hit a leadoff home run and Jake Peavy pitched eight innings of shutout ball, allowing two hits with five strikeouts to win his third straight.
Orioles 13, Blue Jays 7: Michael Aubrey hit a two-run homer and his first career grand slam, Matt Wieters added a three-run shot to end the Jays six-game win streak.
Red Sox 6, Indians 2: Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed two earned runs on five hits in six innings. He struck out seven and walked three. The Indians lost a club-record 13th straight on the road.
Rays 13, Yankees 4: B.J. Upton became the first player in Rays history to hit for the cycle, tripling and homering off CC Sabathia. Upton also drove in a career-high six runs.
Twins 10, Royals 7: Delmon Young hit a first-inning grand slam and the Twins jumped to a 10-0 lead and held on to stay alive in the AL Central race.
Angels 5, Athletics 2: Juan Rivera homered to help Jered Weaver end a three-start losing streak and hand the A’s their fifth-straight loss.
Rangers 7, Mariners 4: Taylor Teagarden hit a go-ahead single and the Rangers scored three runs with two outs in the ninth for the win.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Diamondbacks 12, Cubs 3: Eric Byrnes had his first multihomer game in more than two years and drove in five runs. Chris Young homered and had four hits.
Mets 7, Astros 1: Jeff Francoeur and Daniel Murphy each homered and David Wright had three hits, including a RBI double.
Marlins 7, Phillies 2: Jorge Cantu drove in three runs to give him 99 for the season and Cameron Maybin had four hits and scored three runs.
Pirates 3, Reds 1: Lastings Milledge homered and Andy LaRoche drove in a pair of runs. Matt Capps got his 27th save.
Nationals 6, Braves 3: Ian Desmond homered, drove in three and scored twice and Mike McDougal picked up his 20th save of the year.
Brewers 12, Cardinals 6: Ryan Braun doubled twice and drove in three as the Brewers scored 12 unanswered runs in the last four innings.
Giants 7, Padres 2: Giants starter Barry Zito left in the sixth inning after being hit in the left elbow with a line drive off the bat of Adrian Gonzalez.
Rockies 4, Dodgers 3: Troy Tulowitzki’s two-run homer in the seventh ended up being the difference to pull Rockies within one game in the West.
