No. 3 cop victim of crime

Oops. Burglars may have thought they hit a gold mine when they robbed a home on the far Northwest Side on Monday and made off with a gun and a 50-inch flat-screen TV. Turns out, though, the burglars hit the home of Deputy Superintendent Steve Peterson, the No. 3 ranking officer in the department. Peterson also is the head of the bureau of investigative services for the department and oversees the detective division.

CTA bus driver cited in crash

A CTA bus driver was cited after the bus she was driving crashed into a home Tuesday in Morgan Park. The home was severely damaged and razed. Zoye Sanders, 36, was cited for negligent driving and has a Dec. 31 court date in traffic court, officials said. The bus crashed into the side of a house at 115th Street and Vincennes Avenue, injuring four people on the bus and forcing residents of the home to move in with relatives.

Man’s body found in Lake Michigan near Loyola

The body of an unidentified man was found Wednesday morning in Lake Michigan off Loyola University’s Lake Shore Campus. Chicago police were notified about 11:20 a.m. that the body was found by a student who initially called campus police about the discovery. Annie Hughes, a Loyola spokeswoman, said the unidentified man appeared elderly. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
