Unfortunately for the Bears, they still have two more night games left on their schedule.
Jay Cutler’s night vision wasn’t functioning properly again Thursday. The Bears quarterback threw a career-high five interceptions, including one to safety Michael Lewis in the end zone as time expired, sealing a 10-6 loss to the 49ers.
The Bears are now 0-3 in night games this season, all on the road. They will host the Eagles in a 7:20 p.m. game Nov. 22 and the Vikings in a 7:30 p.m. start Dec. 28.
More importantly, the Bears (4-5) continue to fade out of the playoff picture. They’ve lost four of their last five games and still have the Vikings (7-1), Eagles (5-3), Packers (4-4) and Ravens (4-4) left on the schedule.
The defense actually gave the Bears a chance to win this time, holding the 49ers to one Frank Gore touchdown and a field goal. But the offense couldn’t manage to put up points against a San Francisco team that allowed 21.8 points per game coming in.
Cutler wasn’t to blame for all the interceptions, as receiver Devin Hester slipped on one of them. Regardless, he now has 11 interceptions in night games this season at Green Bay, Atlanta and San Francisco. And he has a league-worst five interceptions in the red zone after two more Thursday.
