Chicago Police Sgt. John Pallohusky, accused of stealing from a police sergeant’s union, posted bond Tuesday.

Bail was increased after prosecutors raised their estimate of how much he allegedly stole to about $1 million from $600,000. Prosecutors had asked for a bail of $1 million in cash. But Cook Circuit Judge Donald Panarese, after determining there was no proof his bond money came from any ill-gotten gain, set bail at $350,000 and allowed Pallohusky’s attorneys to post 10 percent to get him released.

Pallohusky, 53, is charged with theft and money laundering. He was president of the Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association.
