Hidden agenda
On the agenda: Galit Greenfield baking workshops, 312-912-2723; sweetgalit.com
Pastry school
Check it out if you … wish you knew how to make awesome holiday cookies, want to get some pastry-making tips from a pro, are looking for a party idea that doesn’t just involve sitting around and drinking.
The deets: Pastry chef Galit Greenfield has been teaching baking classes in Chicago for two years. Customers can pick a theme, such as muffins, tarts or cakes, and she’ll design a workshop that can be run in your home, her home or any rented kitchen facility. Greenfield supplies ingredients and tools for the hands-on lessons, and here’s the best part: After the treats are done, everyone gets to eat what they baked. Classes typically run two to three hours and cost $55 per person for groups of six or more or $65 per person for groups of fewer than six. Extra charges may be added for travel and cleaning.
The payoff: Learning new ways to satisfy your sweet tooth.
