Hidden Agenda:
On the agenda: DIY screen printing workshop at Chicago Sustainable Manufacturing Center, 1048 W. 37th St., 773-318-9407; chicagourbanartsociety.org.
Check it out if you … would like to spruce up your wardrobe with some unique T-shirts, are looking for a more productive way to spend time at home this season than watching TV, want to create lasting art on a budget.
The deets: The Chicago Urban Art Society hosts a series of $75 two-day workshops on consecutive Saturdays (Jan. 9 and 16, Jan. 30 and Feb. 6, Feb. 20 and 27). You’ll work from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. learning how to create stencils to add prints to clothing. The hands-on lessons include all materials, as well as tips on creating designs, how to care for your screens, local places to buy materials and how to use different colors and tools. You can keep all the test prints you want, along with some high-quality paper and frames to show off your work.
The payoff: Learning how to turn your ideas into stylin’ new clothes.
