Northwestern 67, Michigan 52
‘Cats, Crawford cruise
Northwestern has no room for slip-ups. The Wildcats knew that Tuesday night when they started the second half of their Big Ten season with the ultimate goal of securing the school’s first NCAA tournament bid.
Freshman Drew Crawford and sophomore John Shurna led a 21-4 second-half run as Northwestern pulled away and routed Michigan 67-52.
“We had to win this game, and we did,” Northwestern coach Bill Carmody said. “That’s the way we should play.”
Crawford had 17 points — 11 in the second half — and Shurna 15 for Northwestern in a balanced attack.
Northwestern improved to 15-7 overall and 4-6 in the Big Ten.
