The staff at Deerfield’s Stoney River steakhouse made an unusual delivery recently they’d like to get back.
A man identifying himself as Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy James Porter called and claimed that an employee of the restaurant had been arrested on a DUI charge and needed to post $700 bail. The restaurant manager was instructed to wire the money to a California bail bondsman named Perry Garcia. The manager soon realized it was a scam when the employee arrived for work, knowing nothing of the DUI.
