Tomlinson expecting to be cut by Chargers

LaDainian Tomlinson says he believes he has played his last game as a Charger. The running back told the San Diego Union-Tribune on Thursday that he has thought for a while he would be let go.

“I’m not coming back,” Tomlinson said. “I don’t believe I’ll be back in San Diego. I’ve accepted it.”

His comments come after more than a month of saying he did not know what would happen.

The NFL’s most valuable player in 2006 has two years remaining on his contract. He is due a $2 million roster bonus March 5 and would be paid $5 million in 2010.

Despite troubles, Woods top brand

Despite Tiger Woods’ problems surrounding his adultery scandal and lost corporate sponsors, the world’s No. 1 golfer remains the top athlete brand as ranked by Forbes.

The magazine estimated in its second annual “Fab 40” list that Woods still represents the top sports brand by athlete, with an estimated value of $82 million.

His total was larger than that of the next five athletes combined, according to Forbes. Soccer star David Beckham ($20 million), tennis player Roger Federer ($16 million), NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. ($14 million) and NBA stars LeBron James and Kobe Bryant ($13 million and $12 million, respectively) round out the top six. Canseco challenge doesn’t sit well

Herschel Walker is not amused by Jose Canseco’s challenge to fight.

Speaking to the Dallas-based Bob and Dan radio show, Walker, 47, said he didn’t think Canseco realized how serious he is about MMA and his training.

Saying he knew Canseco was simply hoping for a quick payday, Walker said if they ever actually got into a cage, things would end badly for the former slugger.

“Jose wants to do this for money,” Walker said. ” If he wants to fight me … I will hurt him.” Tribune wires
