Three people broke into a home Thursday night on the 100 block of North Donald Avenue in Arlington Heights, tied up the resident and his girlfriend and stole cash, police said.
It all happened in less than 10 minutes and one of the intruders reportedly was armed with a semi-automatic pistol, police said.
Sgt. Mike Hernandez said the victims were targeted. He said two men and a woman knocked on the door and pushed their way into the house when the resident answered. Police did not say how much money was taken.
