I was so pleased to see on Nov. 25 that the Tribune had written an editorial that included DonorsChoose.org. The motto for this fabulous online organization is” teachers ask, you choose, students learn.” Teachers send in their proposals asking for help to fund requests for books, sports, music or art equipment, math and science materials, etc. Then, you, the donor, can go online and find a project that inspires you. No matter how much you donate, you will receive an e-mail thank you from the teacher as well as pictures of the students with the materials once the proposal is fully funded.
This is a great project for individuals and business/social groups to become involved in, especially during the holiday season. All donations are tax deductible and you’ll get a wonderful feeling of making a difference for the classroom of your choice. Several months ago, one donor funded every proposal from California. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone from our state stepped forward to fund all of Illinois’ proposals?
So—go to DonorsChoose.org, click on projects and find a proposal that touches you and helps our kids. They are waiting!
