Quick look: The Jets might have saved their season with a road upset of the Steelers on Sunday, and now are positioned for a wild-card spot if they keep winning.
They had lost two in a row before Sunday, including getting spanked 45-3 by the Patriots. They had been struggling up front defensively and in their passing game.
The Jets may be the most high-profile team in the NFL, with brash coach Rex Ryan unafraid to speak his mind and unafraid to take chances strategically. The team was the subject of the training camp show “Hard Knocks” on HBO, and has become accustomed to the spotlight.
The Jets are a talented team and an experienced one. Their roster features a number of veterans who have been through many December/January wars, including LaDainian Tomlinson, Santonio Holmes, Tony Richardson and Jason Taylor, who made a critical tackle for a safety against the Steelers.
Key stat: Jets QB Mark Sanchez played well in the cold in Pittsburgh on Sunday, but in his career he has thrown four touchdowns to 17 interceptions when it is colder than 45 degrees and/or raining.
Key matchup: Bears special teams gunner Corey Graham versus the Jets’ sideline wall. After the Jets got caught trying to impede opposing special teams players on the sideline, Graham better have his head on a swivel on the sidelines.
Early pick: Jets 23, Bears 20
