Maybe George Ryan would have a better chance of getting an early release to spend time with his ailing wife if he publicly acknowledged that he breached the public’s trust and genuinely showed remorse for the crimes that landed him in jail. With all due respect to the Ryan family, how can you be aghast at the judge’s decision to deny early release when it is clear that the prisoner in question still refuses to take responsibility for his actions? Ryan may have a better chance at securing his freedom if he finally admitted and apologized for his role in the Operation Safe Road scandal.
