In regard to “Davis drops out, endorses Braun,” (Jan. 1), Danny Davis has admitted, in effect, that he’s playing the race card and that he doesn’t care who becomes Chicago’s next mayor, just so it’s an African-American (preferably Carol Moseley Braun, who was the most prominent black contender from the very beginning). She has name value. So Davis judges her to be the best candidate, not because she’s the most qualified, but because she’s black and the best-known one. Anyone not in a coma should be able to see that. That leaves only three other major candidates: Rahm Emanuel, Gery Chico and Miguel del Valle. It’s a mayor’s race in more ways than one.
