Oprah Winfrey has an explanation for her weight gain of the late 1990s. It was the flop of her 1998 film “Beloved,” she told CNN’s Piers Morgan in an interview for “Piers Morgan Tonight,” which premiered Monday. The film’s flop launched her on a “massive, depressive, macaroni and cheese-eating tailspin,” she told Morgan, according to transcripts. “I ate about 30 pounds’ worth. I’m not kidding.” Of particular disdain to Winfrey, she recalls, was that the film fared worse on opening weekend than “Bride of Chucky.”
