It’s clear that the Chicago Tribune is ready to endorse Rahm Emanuel for mayor. In today’s paper (Jan. 27), the front page features a huge picture of Mr. Emanuel accompanying a story about the makeup of the Illinois Supreme Court (hardly front page material), his picture is on Page 2 in John Kass’s column and again on Page 19. None of these stories reflect Mr. Emanuel’s position on any of the issues facing the city of Chicago. Gery Chico gets a small photo on Page 8 accompanying a story about his position on hiring more police officers. At least Carol Moseley Braun and Miguel del Valle get their pictures in the Tribune’s promotion of the debate the Tribune will co-host tonight.
