It has been reported that the Illinois State Legislature will not have official sessions for the next few days because of the approaching snow and blizzard conditions. It apparently has been considered “too difficult and dangerous” for our sensitive state congressmen and senators to report for work. However, they will continue to draw their pay. What about several million other Illinois residents who will be required to report to work, despite the storm, and will not be paid if they do not? Apparently, our legislators are a privileged class who do not have to put up with or be concerned with weather events that the rest of the populace must deal with, no matter how severe.
