If I were “Iron” Mike Ditka, I would zip my lips instead of coming down hard on Jay Cutler for not finishing the playoff game against the Packers. All it does it makes this lifelong Bears fan remember how, in 1987, when the players went on strike, rather than being proud of his boys for sticking together, Ditka referred to the phony scabs as his “real” team, creating ill-will that took many months to heal. Not enough? How about more recent history, when the Bears made it to the Super Bowl in 2007, and it took Ditka days to endorse his old team because of a long-standing grudge against the McCaskeys for firing him. So much for Ditka’s adage about not living in the past.
