I can’t bear to read another article or column about the insensitive, insulting Groupon ads during the Super Bowl. Come on. They were funny! They were genius! Does anyone actually believe that Groupon was purposefully trivializing the plight of the Tibetans? Come on. Recognize clever satire for what it is. I don’t work for Groupon, but my take on these commercials is that they were poking fun at that detached type of person we all know, who is much more interested in saving a few bucks on a meal or a bikini wax than she is in saving the world.
Setting aside the Bud Light dog-party commercial, the Groupon ads were the most clever that I saw on Sunday.
