Lyric Opera of Chicago — Wagner’s ‘Lohengrin’: Lyric has staged the composer’s first masterpiece only once before, in 1980. Now it is back on the boards for seven performances, in Elijah Moshinsky’s production from the Royal Opera, Covent Garden. Johan Botha stars as the mysterious swan-knight, with Emily Magee and Amber Wagner sharing the role of Elsa, Greer Grimsley as the scheming Telramund, Michaela Schuster as his villainous wife, Ortrud, and Georg Zeppenfeld as King Henry.
