Maceo Parker’s horn — along with refrains of ‘Maceo!’ — was a major part of the funk behind James Brown’s band for many years. And he continues to funk up the place, most recently as part of Prince’s “Welcome 2 America” mini-tour in New York and New Jersey. But Parker didn’t limit his skills to orchestrating the Godfather of Soul’s band, having performed with artists of various genres including Ray Charles, James Taylor, the Dave Matthews Band and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. 8 p.m. Friday at Arcada Theatre, 105 E.
