Name: Brookstone Travel Mirror & Tweezers
What it is: A travel mirror kit that holds two mirrors and a pair of tweezers. The compact case has a built-in travel mirror (41/2 by about 4 inches) without magnification; it holds a removable round magnifying mirror with two suction cups to attach it to any flat surface, plus a pair of easy-grip, slant-tipped tweezers. The travel mirror kit’s compact size and simple design make it ideal for women or men to drop in a pocket or a bag to carry on a trip.
The good: I wasn’t certain whether I would even need this “low-tech” mirror and tweezer kit the first time I packed it. After several trips, it has become a travel essential. Sometimes the simplest things make great travel gear. The regular mirror is handy for checking my makeup or hair, and the magnification mirror helps me tweeze an errant facial hair or a splinter. The slanted tweezer tips and easy-grip pads make plucking easy.
The bad: The tweezers grab hair better than a tiny splinter. When I got a deeper splinter in my hand, I had to use a needle along with the tweezers to work it out of my palm.
