Jessie Katz earned the opening day win for Deerfield while Max Mazzetta got the save. Landon Cohen drove home the winning run on a sacrifice fly and Andrew Goldstick was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the win.

Highland Park 10, Palatine 7

Jason Goldstein went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs and Chase Cunniff was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Highland Park (1-0). Max Allen picked up the opening day win.

IMSA 5, Paw Paw 3

IMSA’s Neil Patel struck out 12 on the mound to earn the win and helped his cause with a home run. Brendan West went 2-for-4 in the win.

Lincoln-Way Central 2, Marmion 1

Kevin DeMatteo went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run to lead Lincoln-Way Central (1-0). Marmion’s Tim Tarter went 2-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base and threw three innings, striking out six.

Lisle 12, Walther Lutheran 6

Ryan Van Volkenburg was the winning pitcher and went 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI for Lisle (1-0). Ryan Burlison went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Manteno 13, Grant Park 0 (5 Inn.)

Morton 4, Oak Lawn 1

Joe Kadela earned the win, going four innings and allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six. Geno Dimaggio was the leader at the plate for Morton (1-0), going 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and two RBIs.

Niles North 10, Foreman 0 (5 inn.)

Adam Warda went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs for Niles North (1-1). Joe Markus got the win with three innings of two-hit ball, striking out five.

Northridge Prep 13, Prosser 7

Patrick O’Connor earned the win on the mound with the help of Larry Bilello who went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Northridge is now 1-0 on the season.

Proviso West 12, Curie 3 (6 inn.)

Reavis 12, Thornwood 2 (6 inn.)

Garret Rhodes earned the win for Reavis (1-0) going four innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits and two walks, and striking out nine.

St. Rita 15, Bloomington 2 (5 inn.)

Jake Thome went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and Rick Faron had a two-run double to lead St. Rita (1-0). Eddie De La Riza earned the win on the mound, striking out five in two perfect innings.

Simeon 12, Ag. Science 3

Darien Clifton had a three-run home run and Malik Simmons added a two-run double for Simeon (2-0). Robert Fletcher with 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the win.

Liza Camacho earned the win for Curie (1-1), going four innings, allowing two runs and striking out three. Brittany Dimas had two hits, scored three times and stole four bases and Gabriela Alvarez had two RBIs and three stolen bases in the win.

Allie Gaeding went 2-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases to lead Fremd.

Lauren Thornhill went the distance to earn the win for Maine South (1-0). Kaitlyn Mularkey drove in the winning run with a double.

Marian Catholic 9, Bradley-Bourbonnais 0

Becca Gray went the distance, tossing a no-hitter and striking out four in the win. Alex Nickel went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Spartans.

Ashley Rogers earned the opening game win for Mother McAuley (1-0).

Kiley Rusen was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and Cassandra Cook had two hits and four RBIs for Riverside-Brookfield (1-0). Kylie O’Connell went 2-for-2 with a home run, and pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on three hits and striking out three.
