Let the government shut down! It stops the present, grandiose spending in a way that no one in local or federal government seems to be able to slow or stop.

I have written to all my government representatives before this, both local and federal. An across the board, 20 percent cut in government wages and salaries would be a shared sacrifice to accomplish spending reduction where everyone shares the problem. Everyone’s ox is gored. And every government employee truly feels the pain of the unemployed and under-employed non-public worker, as opposed to just mouthing the politically correct words. More importantly, maybe it will cause them to realize where the dollars come from for their salaries and wages, something that government spending should always keep in mind.

If employees of non-public companies are not working, government bills cannot be paid solely from taxes. And until we fix that problem, shared reduction in all government salaries and wages, local and federal, is the only fair way to fix our budget deficits, not just robbing from emergency services to get political visibility.

And I guess if my government does not care about the non-public workers’ situation, then I really do not care about whether the government shuts down! Go ahead! Shut down!
