One afternoon, long before Nick Sposato won a stunning victory for alderman of the Northwest Side’s 36th Ward, he was hungry.
Naturally, Sposato, 52, a rail-thin Chicago firefighter, found himself at one of the area’s classic Italian beef stands.
Was it Johnnie’s Beef on North Avenue?
“No, Mr. Beef, not Johnnie’s,” Alderman-elect Sposato told me at breakfast Wednesday.
So picture it: Sposato waiting for his beef. And there was his rival, the soon-to-be Ald. John Rice, also waiting for his beef.
