Earth Day is every day for vegans and vegetarians who humanely know that raising and killing animals for food causes more planetary and environmental crises than any other destructive human activity. They also know that the exorbitant tons of grains used to feed mistreated “food animals” could meet the caloric needs of 8 billion people which is more than the entire human population on earth. Vegan and vegetarian diets reduce cruelty to animals, deforestation, water, air and land pollution and devastation to many terrestrial and marine ecosystems and biodiversity. The average vegetarian saves an acre of trees a year and countless gallons of water that are squandered to irreverently raise and slaughter animals for human consumption.
