If bragging rights are more valuable than time and money, then Racheal Jones and Ramona Wesely, both of Dallas, and Kathleen Canedo of Oakton, Va., and Hillary Berman of Bethesda, Md., are on Easy Street.

The Texas duo made a mad dash from the Lone Star State to Chicago (arrived Thursday, back home Friday) to deliver their diorama, “Satine the Sparkling Peep from Moulin Peep,” in time for our judges’ panel to deem it their hands-down favorite.

Canedo and Berman made a more leisurely trip from the East Coast, blogging about and posting photos of their journey with their “Larry Peep Live on PNN” diorama in tow. The judges’ panel, comprising movie critic Michael Phillips, visual arts reporter Lauren Viera and theater critic Chris Jones, awarded Canedo and Berman No. 2 honors, once they stopped marveling at the detail of “Larry Peep’s” glasses and little suspenders.

Rounding out the judges’ top three choices is “Peepmares,” by Laura Onwiler of Kankakee, thus ensuring that top honors were not a clean sweep by out-of-towners with a fondness for road trips.

‘Satine the Sparkling Peep from Moulin Peep’

The judges say: “Lovely, witty details of Belle Epoque theatrics, from the footlights to the backstage area.” (Phillips). “Love the skirts; nice use of pipe cleaners.” (Viera) “Delicious re-enactment of Peep glamour.” (Jones)

The creators say: “We know it’s silly to dress marshmallow birds like can-can dancers and then drive them all the way from Dallas to Chicago for their show,” Racheal Jones said. “But silly is what makes life fun and meaningful.”

‘Larry Peep Live on PNN’

The judges say: “Draws that inevitable Peep-King connection with aplomb.” (Jones) “Simple but well-executed; great details.” (Viera) “More class and style than Larry King deserves. Love the desk microphone made from the Tylenol caplet.”(Phillips)

The creators say: “We had an absolutely fabulous time on our adventure to drop off the diorama,” said Hillary Berman. “We have lots of pics from all over Chicago. You can see all of them on our Facebook fan page (yes, we created one): Operation Peeps Diorama Delivery 2011.”

‘Peepmares’

The judges say: “I like how Peep-centered this is. You feel like it’s a window into the Peep psyche.” (Jones) “Familiar satiric subject, but brought off beautifully. Love the eerie lighting effect just outside the beleaguered Peep’s bedroom window.” (Phillips) “A little odd — and creepy.” (Viera)

The creator says: “I love the idea of a sugar-coated piece of marshmallow being able to convey some kind of emotion. I mean, everyone — even Peeps — knows when your closet door pops open in the middle of the night it’s the closet monster coming to kill you,” said Laura Onwiler.
