Oak Forest scored all of its runs during the fourth inning of a 3-1 victory against Nazareth in a Class 3A state baseball semifinal Friday at Silver Cross Field in Joliet.

Two of those runs were unearned thanks to three errors in the inning by Nazareth.

Kyle Funkhouser (12-0) allowed three hits, a run and struck out four while earning the victory.

Bobby Sheppard and George Jester each had two hits for Oak Forest (27-7).

Justin Gonzalez hit a home run in the second to give Nazareth (34-6) a 1-0 lead. Ryan Powers struck out five and gave up two hits in four innings of scoreless relief in the loss.

Oak Forest turned three double plays and threw out two runners trying to steal.

The Bengals will face either Waterloo or Kaneland in the 3A final at 11 a.m. Saturday.
