Let me get this straight. U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner sends some lewd photos and texts to women he has never met, then lies about it to the press. No crime was committed, but certainly Mr. Weiner’s behavior was undignified and disqualifies him from serving his constituency. Mr. Obama and other leaders of the Democratic Party rightfully call for his resignation. How times change. Several years ago, another Democratic politician had sex with a woman (not his wife) while at work, then lied about it to a grand jury, not only tarnishing the office he held but committing a felony in the process. Where were the calls then from the other Democrats — including a young Mr. Obama — for Mr. Clinton’s resignation? Call me a cynic, but I suspect this new-found morality among Democrats will last only as long as they deem it policitically expedient.
