Sports columnist Steve Rosenbloom’s observations and pithy comments may come across as harsh to some readers, but someone needs to hold Cubs owner and chairman Tom Ricketts accountable for the laissez-faire approach he has taken to running the ballclub. Ricketts seems to think he is just another bleacher fan as he was in his halcyon Northwestern days. Ricketts owes Cubs fans a serious attitude to his job, which starts with holding the general manager and manager responsible for on-field performance. If he doesn’t want to do that, he should sell the team to someone who will.
