Name:

Nada-Chair Natural Back-Up

What it is:

A back-support system designed to be “the chair you wear.” The Natural Back-Up has a padded hemp/cotton back panel and two sling straps. You slide the straps over your knees so the strap pads rest on your shins just below your knees. The Back-Up uses your knees to stabilize your pelvis so your spine is comfortable in any seat. It cradles your lower back and keeps you from slouching whether you’re at a desk or on a plane. Nada-Chair designed its back support to go anywhere, including space.

The good:

The Back-Up provides better lumbar support than any airplane seat I’ve endured. The soft hemp/cotton fabric is comfortable for hours at a time whether I’m on a long flight or typing all day at my desk.

The bad:

Though there’s a strap that lets you wear the Back-Up, which I do at home, on a plane it feels clumsy to traipse down the aisle with the straps hanging by my legs. I also worry that the straps might accidentally touch the floor and get soiled.

Cost:

$75
