A day after fainting in the middle of the Arizona clubhouse, Don Baylor was back to full strength Saturday, helping prepare hitters to face Milwaukee’s Yovani Gallardo.
Baylor said he had a bad reaction to medicine he was taking for back spasms.
“I had a reaction to medication for my back,” said Baylor, a former Cubs manager and cancer survivor. “The next thing that I know it was six o’clock in the evening. I got a nice sleep out of it, though. That’s good. I haven’t had that in a while. I’m good.”
Baylor spent Friday night in a hospital for observation but was released in time for Game 1 of the Division Series.
“They tested him for everything,” Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. “… He’s probably the toughest guy I know. I think he’s worried about me trying to be tougher, I don’t know. But we’re trying to make sure he’s okay and he’s acting like, ‘Come on.’ … We’re happy to see him in great spirits today.”
