Not having visited the downtown for a number of years, my husband and I decided to take his out-of-town sister to see the windows at Macy’s. I was shocked to find the once whimsical and creative display a shadow of a great tradition in Chicago. Saying they were pedestrian would be an understatement.
I would not cross the street to view these windows! Each and every window is hawking a product. A once proud tradition has become a travesty!
No one will be drawn to the city, let alone Macy’s, considering the ordinary and crass nature of this display. I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone see the holiday windows at Macy’s. It’s just an ordinary store, nothing special.
