Of all the ways Newt Gingrich could have described the Palestinian problem, he chose to call the Palestinians an “invented” people. That was remarkably offensive, and he defended that choice as the truth. May the Lord (and the state of Iowa) defend us from politicians with such heavy-handed “truths.” In the White House Mr. Gingrich won’t solve problems, he’ll create them.
