President Barack Obama recently called for “fair play” and giving all a “fair shot” while complaining about “growing inequality.”
Does this mean that I get a piece of Congressional insider trading? Will I get the same health care and retirement benefits as members of Congress do? I’d be happy with the benefits of the politically connected.
Can I get some green energy money if I never contributed to Obama’s campaign? How about giving me the special retirement benefits that state workers get even though I haven’t supported any Democrats? How about a special tax break for me so I can be part of the political elite?
Isn’t it interesting that Congress partakes of insider trading and there were no cost savings in the health care bill? Maybe they did nothing to lower the costs of drugs, insurance, or defensive medicine, because doing so would have lowered the value of the corresponding stocks. I would love to know how many of the political elite purchased health care stocks before they passed the bill? From 2008 to 2010, the net worth of Congress grew 25 percent.
