The Social Security fund can easily be fixed by merely raising the deduction cap from the current $120,000 figure to $175,000 or $200,000. This idea has been proposed for a number of years and yet no politician seems to grab this easy fix and run with it. In addition, the entire system could be further enhanced if all federal workers, including our elected representatives, were transferred into the Social Security system instead being favored with their own retirement fund.
Such a move would certainly stop the repeated calls to abolish and/or privatize the system by the career politicians.
