No children were aboard a school bus that crashed into a van this afternoon in Orland Park, leaving a 60-year-old man driving the van and the bus driver hospitalized.
Both vehicles were traveling on the 8700 block of 143rd Street when they crashed about 5 p.m., said Orland Park Police Sgt. Tom Hottinger.
The bus was eastbound in the curb lane when it happened. No children were aboard, the sergeant said.
A woman driving the bus was taken to Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights while a 60-year-old man driving the van was more seriously injured and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, he said. Hottinger did not know what their injuries were.
It was not immediately known who was at fault and said no citations have been written, the sergeant said.
The wreck occurred in a residential area and 143rd Street had two lanes in each direction.
