This is in response to the fare hike proposed by Chicago cab drivers.

By choice, I take cabs to and from the office each day. Ninety percent of the time, the drivers are on their cell phones for the duration of my trip. I find this quite rude and not particularly safe.

In addition, it is unusual for me to be lucky enough to be able to ride in a cab that is clean and in decent condition (without torn seats or the inside armrest not coming off the door). While I understand their desire for increased fees and fares, I resent the possibility of having to pay more to enable rudeness and, in some cases, cars that are in deplorable condition.

Perhaps if these fare hikes were granted, we as passengers could deduct them if the cab is not clean and/or if the driver is on the phone. Granting the proposed fare hike without some sort of concession by the drivers is not acceptable.
