Frmer New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears defensive end Alex Brown expressed support for former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams in the wake of the NFL’s bounty scandal.

“You can knock a guy out of the game and do it legally,” Brown told “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on WMVP-AM 1000. “Just because you knock a guy out of the game doesn’t mean it’s an illegal thing. Just because a guy gets hurt doesn’t mean it’s illegal. It is football.”

Brown said he didn’t think the Saints ever intentionally tried to hurt anyone severely, but said the goal was to hit hard and perhaps knock opponents out of the game for at least a few play.
