Proviso East is two quarters away from doing what some might have thought impossible — ending Simeon’s title reign.

The Pirates received 10 points from Sterling Brown to enter halftime tied at 23-23 with Simeon in the Class 4A boys basketball state championship game at Carver Arena.

The Wolverines fell behind 19-15 late in the second quarter, but Simeon guard Jaleni Neely made two straight 3-pointers to tie the game.

The Wolverines, who have won consecutive state titles, were led by Jabari Parker’s nine points.
