Brent Betterly, 24, of Oakland Park, Fla.
He is known among Occupy Ft. Lauderdale members as being nonviolent and friendly, but he has had a series of run-ins with Florida police, from domestic battery to vandalism. Last fall, he and two friends were accused of breaking into a local high school to take a swim and steal fire extinguishers.
According to his Facebook page, Betterly admires George Washington, Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara and 17th-century bomb plotter Guy Fawkes.
