The informative article “‘Milk ladies’ deliver” (Chicagoland Health and Family, Sept. 5) is a potent reminder that even with Americans experiencing the worse economic downturn since The Great Depression, many Americans have manifested benevolence toward less financial stable and impoverished individuals and families by delivering baby formula and other much needed items to new mothers in the Chicago area. These ladies, now joined and accompanied by daughters, relatives, and friends really epitomize underpinnings of the American spirit expressed through kindness and generosity making me exceedingly proud that I reside here and not elsewhere.

I will pledge a personal contribution to this extremely positive and ongoing project, plus the organization I represent, Illinois Police Association-South Division, will duplicate that contribution predicated on my recommendation.

Bless these ladies and those who assist them providing a much needed private service through their ongoing positive endeavors.
